Ugly Food House

'Ugly Food House' was created as a platform to develop works of art that express an honesty about contemporary culture and explore social issues.

The project was conceived during an artistic residency in London in 2014, but it was not until December 2015 in Los Angeles, where the vision was made concrete under the name of

UGLY FOOD.

Founders, Ivonne Adel- Bureos/ Play Is Soul Food (United Kingdom) and Satterugly (Mexico), create and present artworks and designs as the collaborative Ugly Food, and also produce work separately as individual artists.

The Ugly Food House invite national and international artists to experiment and produce high quality FineArt Limited Edition prints.

Ugly Food House, officially opened its doors in February 2016.

SATTERUGLY

Born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, Satterugly has always had a close connection to street art and graffiti. Originally a tagger, he experimented and developed his own language combining dark, grotesque or ugly characters, with phrases to question the viewer and society.

He has created and dominated his own raw illustrative style where he explores the dark obscurities of our contemporary society, and the political, social and environmental impacts it has created;  inclusive the taboos. His mediums range from paper, canvases and sculptures, to large-scale murals and animations.

Satterugly also designs his own line of T-shirts, playing with ideas and concepts on the alter ego and our darker-sides: La Karmelo

PLAY IS SOUL FOOD

Born in Mexico City, raised in Scotland, Play Is Soul Food (Ivonne Adel- Bureos) has always been drawn towards the beauty in the unwanted and refuse. Her work experiments with everyday objects, recycling, and contemporary semiotics within urban cultures and environments.

She experiments and mixes traditional and non- traditional printmaking and mark making techniques to create raw multi- layered works, celebrating what Play is, and its importance in our everyday.

During her professional Fine Art printmaking career Ivonne has work with some of the top master printmakers and paper- makers in the industry, with a healthy list of assisting and producing for international artists; creating new contemporary Fine Art prints and redefining what was traditionally thought as  a print.
