'SEMIOTICS' by Play Is Soul Food

Updated: May 8

Outline Gallery Space, Edinburgh, is excited to present this new fine art collection by Play Is Soul Food. (also known as Ivonne Adel- Bureos)

Director of Photography @alixmacintosh

'Semiotics' is a new collection of body mono-prints, collages, drawings, and digitals, created by exploring how our bodies create different systems of communication.

Right in the heart of Tollcross, Edinburgh, Outline Gallery Space will hold this special pop-up exhibition which will be open to the public for only 4 days, opening Friday 31st of May.

In addition to the exhibition at Outline Gallery Space, Home bar Edinburgh will host the after event with the artists and all involved in the project. All are welcome.

Play Is Soul Food has also teamed up to collaborate with Scottish photographer Alix McIntosh. Their joint creative adventure includes a new short video about the body printing process, giving us a deeper insight into the process of body mono-printing; and how the artist incorporates and plays with sign language to tell stories to the audience. Plus they will also reveal their new collaboration limited edition print.

Alix McIntosh is not only a renowned Edinburgh photographer and videographer, but is a lifelong friend of the artist. This will be a chance to see their first collaboration work before they exhibit a full collection together in August during the Edinburgh Fringe festival.

"Semiotics is the framework for understanding how humans use signs to make meaning of the world around them."

There are discussions of a live performance body printing session available for viewing in Outline Gallery Space during the exhibition. Keep an eye out for more information on how you can reserve your spot. Seating is limited.
